Edit and Manage XML

XML Preview
You can use the preview to monitor your edits in the XML Editor at any time.
The following figure shows the XML Editor with an activated separate preview window:
How to activate the XML Preview
To do this, click on this function → to open a context menu which allows you to access the preview
- in a separate window
- docked to top
- docked to left
- docked to right
Then shows the preview the current edits of the actually selected line.
If you select the Invisible option, you will not see a preview during your edits in the XML Editor.
Add Rows and Columns
The XML Editor provides the possibilities to add Rows → (see 1) and thus further Entries as well as Columns → (see 2) and thus further Data fields.
For this purpose you will find a function at the end of the row column and at the end of the column bar.
How to add rows
For the purpose of adding further entries to the XML, click on the Plus symbol →
in # Row column.
This click provides you with a duplicate of the previous line as the following line, in which you can now change the respective content by double-clicking on an entry → see the following figure.
Save Edits
If you save your edits → Save , the contents of the rows will be played one after the other when the screen is played.
How to move Rows
You can move and rearrange rows.
Click on the desired row number and move the row up or down using Drag & Drop.
How to add a Column
If you want to add additional columns to the XML, and thus further data fields for the insertion of external content, click on the plus symbol → in the row with the data field descriptions.
This opens a context menu where you can select the desired data type.
By clicking on a menu item, you open an input window in which the data field description of your selection is specified → String/Media/Weekday etc. You may overwrite this.
After clicking Okay you will see the column added with the name you assigned in the XML Editor.
Move Columns
You can use drag & drop to move each column to a different location and thus arrange the XML editor more clearly for your edits.
How to assign the New Column to an Element in the Screen
- Open the screen in the HTML5 Editor now.
- Select the desired element in the screen that is to be linked to the new XML column.
- In the Content area, select the XML in which the new column was created as the source. Select the name of the new column as the entry.
Text Fields With Letter Limitation
If you edit a text field that was previously set to the Fit text → No option in the HTML5 Editor, the input is limited to the number of letters that fit in the text field.Read more about this in the chapter → HTML5 Editor.
Date Selection in the Date Field
Once you select a date field within an XML file, a calendar opens with an overview of the next 3 months.
If you have already assigned a date to the field, the display begins with the month of the date entered.
You can select the desired calendar day by clicking on it.
Using the arrow functions in the top bar → allows you to navigate forwards or backwards in the calendar.
To select the current date, you can use the → Today function for a quick selection.
If you want to set the following day of the current date, click on the → Tomorrow function.
Time Column With Time As Default Value
When creating a new time column, you can now directly enter a time as the default value, which is then inserted in all rows. The value entered is also saved as the default value.
XML Settings - Filtering By Date
When you open the XML Settings, you can now also show the → entries for the next calendar week under → Filtering By Date.
